Suicide is Painless?

Elder’s Meditation of the Day
“All of us begin to rethink what is good about ourselves – put the past where it belongs – and get on with the possibilities of the present!”
–Howard Rainer, TAOS PUEBLO-CREEK
There is a saying, you move toward and become that which you think about. So the question for today is, what are you thinking about? Are you thinking bad things about yourself or are you thinking good things about yourself? Are you thinking about a worldly life? Are you thinking good things about people or are you gossiping about people? Are you focusing on past things or are you living in the future? We need to bring our thoughts into the NOW, right here.

Great Spirit, let me experience living in the present moment.

This last week the gurlie and the oldest boy have had three people from their high school die, one murdered in Florida and two committed suicide. Last night (Sunday) in talking with a friend, her cousin had come over, she had just came home to find her husband, who had hung himself. She lived a few houses down from my friend and had come there after calling 911.

Talking Saturday night with the gurlie, we spoke about all this happening and how it was affecting her. She had known two of the kids who died. Sometimes she takes things to personal in life. So we talked, as I held her. I told her what I thought, that people who commit suicide don’t deserve a funeral, or a memorial. They don’t deserve the tears shed for them. The are just a selfish individual who’s only thought was for themselves and not for the ones left behind. I felt they should be ground up and fed to pigs.

I told her there was absolutely nothing her Mom and I wouldn’t forgive her for. Yes, we might get mad, Yes, there might be consequences. But that we would still support her and do our best to help her. Then I thanked her, for it’s been less than a year ago when she herself felt like doing this, and I thanked her for having enough balls to come to her Mom and I so that we could and did get her help to deal with her issues.

I know most of you will think what I would do to someone is harsh and I agree it is… but not as harsh as someone taking their own life.

On a happier note….. THE RED SOX ARE GOING TO THE WORLD SERIES…. WHOOO HOOOO. Can I be so lucky as to have them win 2 titles in my lifetime.

Speaking with the Ancient One

This entry is dedicated to the Ancient One, it is by far the biggest tree in the area of the lake, probably three times larger than the rest.  It has withstood the battering of storms and times, been witness to much as it stood with it’s arms outstretched.  Been a home to others in it’s world.  It has survived by being strong and standing fast in a world that changes so much with the winds of time.  I hope you enjoy the splendor of the Ancient One as much as I do.

Peeling Away The Layers,  Trees Shedding Their Bark

Trees grow up through their branches and down through their roots into the earth. They also grow wider with each passing year. As they do, they shed the bark that served to protect them but now is no longer big enough to contain them. In the same way, we create boundaries and develop defenses to protect ourselves and then, at a certain point, we outgrow them. If we don’t allow ourselves to shed our protective layer, we can’t expand to our full potential.

DSCF0102

Trees need their protective bark to enable the delicate process of growth and renewal to unfold without threat. Likewise, we need our boundaries and defenses so that the more vulnerable parts of ourselves can safely heal and unfold. But our growth also depends upon our ability to soften, loosen, and shed boundaries and defenses we no longer need. It is often the case in life that structures we put in place to help us grow eventually become constricting.

DSCF0098

Unlike a tree, we must consciously decide when it’s time to shed our bark and expand our boundaries, so we can move into our next ring of growth. Many spiritual teachers have suggested that our egos don’t disappear so much as they become large enough to hold more than just our small sense of self-the boundary of self widens to contain people and beings other than just “me.” Each time we shed a layer of defensiveness or ease up on a boundary that we no longer need, we metaphorically become bigger people. With this in mind, it is important that we take time to question our boundaries and defenses. While it is essential to set and honor the protective barriers we have put in place, it is equally important that we soften and release them when the time comes. In doing so, we create the space for our next phase of growth.

Hugging a Tree

Today is tree picture day, taken this morning some of my favorite trees from out by the lake.  Octo-Tree, the Three Brothers, Gnarly Tree and the Dark One.  I am saving the Ancient One for a seperate posting later on.

In order they are Octo-tree, it never says anything to me, but LV says this is the kind that is the home to faries… I’ve never seen any there. Below that is the center section of Octo-tree, it’s quite large and I could actually stand in the center if I wasn’t worried about squishing faries. ;P  The third Picture is the Dark One, the brothers told me the other trees don’t like it because it didn’t choose the straight path, they don’t even mention it’s true name other than calling it the Dark One.  Next is the Gnarly One, it no longer speaks, the brothers told me it’s story of it’s mighty battle against the ravages of the storms.  Last Picture is of the Three Brothers, they like to speak

A Grounding Embrace  Hugging A Tree

DSCF0092

Trees are among the world’s greatest givers. Their slow and gentle life cycles provide the world with clean air, their roots filter water, and their majestically spreading branches provide shade. Full of vibrant, natural energy, trees can also give us the gifts of peace and nurturance. Hugging or sitting with your spine against the trunk of any tree can ground your body and inspire a profound closeness with nature, as the energy of the tree connects to you. Making physical contact with a tree can help you relax, alleviate stress, sleep more deeply, and hold on to more positive energy. Trees can absorb great amounts of energy and have the ability to soak up harmful energy from deep within you. If you are feeling anxious, sad, drained, or tense, then try hugging a tree.

DSCF0093

Go to the woods, a garden, or a park, and find a tree that you would like to hug. Stand next to the tree and close your eyes. Relax your senses while breathing in the scent of leaves and bark. Listen to the creaking of the branches. When you feel settled, open your eyes, keeping them unfocused, and walk around its trunk. Feel the unique energy of the tree as your auras meet each other. Ask the tree for permission to touch it. If you feel the tree saying yes to you, begin breathing in its energy. Put your arms around the trunk and press your face to its bark. Embrace the tree for as long as you wish, feeling the roughness of its wood and the strength of its years. Relax into that strength and let the tree support you. You may even be able to physically feel a cyclical flow of energy taking place between your body and the tree.

 DSCF0097

If you would feel more comfortable doing so, you can sit with your back pressed to the tree for the same effect. Likewise, if you are seeking greater comfort, you may want to wrap your legs and arms around the tree, either at the base or by straddling a branch. Remember to thank the tree because, by hugging your tree, you are drinking from the well of natural copious energy cultivated by the tree’s many years on this earth.

Elder’s Meditation of the Day
“Love is something that you can leave behind you when you die. It’s that powerful.”
–John (Fire) Lame Deer, ROSEBUD LAKOTA
The Old Ones say, love is all anyone needs. Love doesn’t go away nor can love be divided. Once you commit an act of love, you’ll find it continues. Love is like setting up dominos one behind the other. Once you hit the first domino, it will touch the second one which will touch the third one and so on. Every love act or love thought has an affect on each person as well as touching the whole world. If you live a life filled with love, the results will affect your friends, relatives and other people, even after you go to the other side. So… Love.

My Creator, let me love. Let me put into action the love dominos.

well, this week was just one of them weeks at work… it had it’s good points and it’s bad points. First, took extra long to get out of the Depot this week, so I didn’t even start on the way to KY until almost midnite instead of the 9pm like usual. Got to where I usually stop for the night ad there was no place to park, nor the next place as well. Finally, found a spot in WV about 3:30 am, really tired and was a easy spot to park so I took it. Got up about 11 am and continued on to KY, stopped in WV before the KY line and got lunch and headed over to KY, got to the Rowan, KY scale and the lights came on so I pulled around and brought all my paperwork inside, told me I had a flat and needed to call someone to fix it before I could leave… of course, the Verizon Wireless people have never heard of KY. They let me use their phone and I called my boss told him and he had someone come out to fix it. While I was there the DOT guy decided not to wates a perfect opportunity and did a inspection on my truck, which passed, except for the tire. Which allowed me to get my very first CVSA sticker, in all the years I’ve driven I never got one before. It basically is a number the officers can enter ito a database, it’s good for 3 months… but it doesn’t really mean much actually. But hey, it’s a first… LOL Finally got to the base in KY about 11pm and went back to sleep till morning left the base and drove over to Elkton, KY to pick up some stuff coming back to NJ for Monday morning, got up into WV about 9 pm and spring on trailer broke allowing air lines to drag, once they wore through I was stopped until about 3:30 am when someone finally got it fixed, drove up to the next exit stopped and went back to bed… finally got up into MD where dinglebutt from OH decided he wanted to pass me on the right, on a exit ramp, in a RV towing a car…. moron. Well, finally made it home about 5 after stopping to get some groceries for dinner, we had roast turkey, peas, carrots, tater’s and some great rolls… was good…. YUM  Over all, not my best week at work, but hey, no tickets and nobody died… what more can you ask for.

Playoff Update, Cleveland beat the Dang Yankees again last night… woo hoo! 2-1 in 11 innings…. ony one maore game and the Yankees are done for… unfortunatly they are headed back to the Bronx for the next games

And My beloved Red Sox beat California 6-3 in 9, California walked David Ortis intentionally and choose to pitch to Manny Ramirez, who exploded knocking the ball over the Green Monster to win the game in the bottom of the ninth…. giving the Red Sox a 2-0 lead in the series…. woo hoo, GO BOSOX!!!!!!

Elder’s Meditation of the Day
“Even the trees have spirits – everything has a spirit.”
–Mary Hayes, CLAYOQUOT
The trees are great teachers. The trees are great listeners. That is why we should meditate in their presence. The Great spirit is in every rock, every animal, every human being and in every tree. The Great Spirit has been in some trees for hundreds of years. Therefore, the trees have witnessed and heard much. The trees are the Elders of the Elders. Their spirits are strong and very healing.

Great Spirit, teach me respect for all spiritual things.

I love the fall, the crispness in the air, the changing colors, like a rainbow from our Creator with a promise of new life in the spring.  It’s my favorite time of year to be driving through the mountians and hills of Western MD, WV and KY.  Sunday on my way to Lexington, KY I took a different route to get there, it was about 30 miles and 2 hours longer than the usual way… guess we won’t do that again.  I know once I got to KY and made that illegal right turn and traveled down that skinny back road trying my best to get to the highway again that I was glad it was almost 10pm and there wasn’t much traffic.  I’m sure it would have been a beautiful ride in the daylight… LOL

Was told tonight I was a terrorist because I wasn’t all upset over the proposed 156% increase in the Federal tax on cigarettes… first of all, I don’t smoke, second of all, the proposed increase in the federal tax pales in comparison to the state and local taxes already in place on cigarettes…. If that’s what it takes to make me a terrorist, I guess I’m one place higher on the gooberments most hated list than I thought I was.  I’m sure my reservation has already been made for me when they come for the malcontents.

Well, I’m tired so I’m going to bed, didn’t sleep much more than 4 hours last night.  Had to get up early and go into work for a few hours.  All I got to say is people are freaking crazy around here in the morning… not to mention the guy who decided that his truck looked better upside down on the Interstate this morning at 8 am.  Back to work tomorrow night…
